Friday night's battle of the unbeatens lived up to its billing, but West Linn was able to tag Canby with its first loss

A blow-out win May 26 have the Canby High boys basketball team in the midst of a three-game league winning streak.

The Cougars took the measure of Lakeridge, on the road, by a 68-43 count.

Canby got off to a slow start and led Lakeridge by six at the half. But things changed in the second half.

"We came out strong in the third, outscoring the Pacers 19-4 in the quarter," coach Craig Evans said.

That essentially put the game away, running Canby's league mark to 3-0.

Offensively, Diego Arredondo led the way with 18 points, while Alex Evans chipped in with 13 and Tyler Mead added 11.

The Cougars will get a test May 28 when they play 2-0 West Linn.

The lat two unbeatens in the Three Rivers League faced off Friday night in a game that lived up to the billing.

West Linn managed to hang on and defeat the Cougars by a 53-50 count.

"Diego Arredondo had a great look at the end of the game to tie it, but missed," Evans said.

Arredondo led the Cougars with 25 points, followed by Alex Evans with 13 and Ben Bailey with six.
