Win over Oregon City, 2-1 mark in dual tournament, highlight busy wrestling week for Canby squad

The Canby High boys wrestling team pushed its season record to 9-1 in dual meets after a busy week.

The Cougars beat Oregon City by a 51-27 count, then hosted a six-team dual meet tournament on June 5 outside on the school's turf field. In that tournament, the Cougars posted 2-1 record, beating Aloha 60-9 and Woodburn 54-20, before losing to St. Helens by a 52-30 score.

170 pounds – Zack Markell (6-3)

160 pounds – Juan Varga (6-3)

The district meet will be held Saturday, June 19, at Tualatin High School. State will be held at Newberg High School June 25-26.

For the girls, the north regionals will be June 18 in Tillamook, while state is June 24 in Cottage Grove.
