The TRL Preview meet offered Three Rivers League coaches and athletes a chance to gauge where they are

Runners and coaches across the Three Rivers League got a chance to eyeball one another during the Sept. 8 TRL Preview meet at Oregon City High School.

The Canby boys had a good run, finishing third in the team race with 84 points, behind Tualatin (61) and Lakeridge (46).

Tommy O'Neil showed plenty of promise with a third-place individual finish, traversing the 5,000 meter course in a time of 16 minutes, 46.81 seconds. He was followed by Maddox Oliver in sixth place (17:09.98), Joel Ibarra in 19th (18:07.46), Jack Joyce in 32nd (18:47.84), and Ryan Petterson in 34th (18:50.80) to round out the varsity runners. Jacob Tilden had a steller run in the JV 5,000 with a second place finish in 19:34.48.

In girls race action, the Cougars finished eighth as a team with 227 points.

Leading the way individually was Kali Lucas, who finished a team-best 36th in a time of 22:58.31. Joining her in the varsity race was Kathryn Taggart (49th, 25:33.52), Lexy Paez (50th, 25:36.45), Melia Stoddart (52nd, 25:45.37), and Laela Wood (53rd, 26:32.70).

The Cougars get back on the trails Sept. 15 at the Silver Falls Oktoberfest Invitational.
