Softball team uses big third inning to run away from Liberty for another nonleague win on March 29

Canby High's softball team ran its record to 3-1 with an 11-1 win over Liberty on March 29. The Cougars used a six-run third inning to break the game open and cruise to the nonleague win on the road.

The runs came via singles from Ava Carroll, McKenna Kraft, Natalie Just, Kaylee Allen and Brook Herren as well as a groundout by Bree Marino. On the mound, Abigail Loomis got the win by going three innings and allowing one hit and a single run while striking out nine. Just added four innings of relief out of the bullpen. Offensively, the Cougars collected 10 hits, with Carroll, Just and Kraft having two hits apiece to lead the way. Defensively, Canby played a clean game, committing no errors on the day, highlighted by Madison Bigej in the field, who handled 15 chances in the field flawlessly.
