A pair of fourth-place finishes in league matches have the Cougars looking for a regional match berth

The Canby High girls golf team is making nice progress this season and is hoping that improvement leads them to a berth at the regional match and a chance at a state tournament spot. The season opened at the Oregon Golf Club, where returner Tylor Olson led the squad from the No. 1 spot. Joining her were Jazmin Diaz, Grace English and Gracie Carter, all first-time varsity starters. Canby finished fourth at that match.

The Herald-Pioneer. Canby then jumped into league play at Stone Creek where Sydney McRobbie joined the lineup. "We actually had our best score of the season, but took fifth," coach Terry Bailey said. "The next match was canceled due to snow." Bailey said that at the team's latest match, at Tualatin Country Club, all varsity players shot their best scores of the season and the team took fourth again. "We have a six-point lead over St. Mary's going into our home match at Willamette Valley County Club on April 25," Bailey said. "We are hoping to make the regional match at OGA for a spot at state."
