Omar Ramzi Araim arrested for allegedly shooting a Bend man at Crossroads restaurant

CROOK COUNTY JAIL - Omar Ramzi AraimA Prineville man is facing an attempted murder charge following a shooting at a local restaurant early New Year's Day.

City, county and state law enforcement officials responded to a report of shots fired inside the bar of the Crossroads restaurant around 1:15 a.m. When officers arrived at the bar, they found the victim, 38-year-old Bend resident Nicholas Ricks, still inside with multiple gunshot wounds. Ricks was taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend and is listed in critical condition.

Authorities searched the area and located the shooter, 26-year-old Omar Ramzi Araim, walking north in the 400 block of North Main Street. He was taken in to custody without incident and booked in to the Crook County Jail on charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault. According to police, additional charges will follow as the investigation continues.

The Central Oregon Major Crimes Team was contacted as is the normal procedure for cases of this nature. Authorities believe all parties involved in this incident are accounted for, and there is no danger, or outstanding threats, to our citizens regarding this event.
