Prineville woman arrested in connection with generator theft
A Prineville woman was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a stolen generator in the Juniper Canyon area.
According to Sgt. Bill Elliot, the Crook County Sheriff's Office received a report that someone had stolen a generator from a citizen in the Davis Loop area. During a subsequent investigation at a Southeast Canyon Road residence, a deputy applied for and was granted a search warrant.
Around 11 a.m., county law enforcement officials conducted a search of the property with the requested assistance of the Central Oregon SWAT team.
During the search, members of the search warrant team located the stolen generator as well as methamphetamine paraphernalia and some of the equipment used to move the generator.
One person, who authorities identified as 62-year-old Prineville resident Margaret Ruth Verduin, was contacted at the residence during the search and was arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
Verduin was transported to the Crook County Jail and her bail was set at $22,500.
During the investigation, the Crook County Sheriff's Office was also assisted by Prineville Police Department, BLM Law Enforcement and Crook County Fire and Rescue.
