Celebrating life at a benefit concert
That's the theme of the Pregnancy Resource Center benefit concert and fundraiser set for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Bowman Museum.
"Every year, the Pregnancy Resource Center holds a fundraiser to raise awareness, educate current supporters of PRC, and encourage the community to join in the opportunity to support the work PRC is doing in their community," said Leanne Woods, the PRC advancement specialist.
Organizers invite the community to be part of the work being done to support local women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. The Celebrate Life Concert Fundraiser for the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Central Oregon features a night of music and an opportunity to learn more about Pregnancy Resource Center and find out how they can partner with PRC to serve the local community.
Local musicians Charlie Walker and Chad Campbell will perform sets of country and contemporary music with the theme of "Celebrate Life."
"Each musician will perform an individual set, appealing to a wide variety of musical tastes in the audience," Woods said.
This is a free event, however, they encourage guests to secure tickets prior to the event so they know how many people to expect. Tickets are available at the Prineville Pregnancy Resource Center. The event can seat 150, and they are expecting a full house.
"After sharing the vision and impact of PRC, we will encourage individuals to give in support of the work being done to support women in Prineville, Madras and Terrebonne who are facing unplanned pregnancies," Woods said. "We will encourage monthly support and partnership but will also encourage any gift that might help continue our efforts."
Funds raised at this event will go toward the needs of the centers, allowing them to continue offering all of their services for free. They never charge for anything they do. PRC offers free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, free prenatal vitamins, free consulting, free parenting education, and baby and maternity supplies.
The Pregnancy Resource Center has been serving Central Oregon for close to 25 years. Their free services allow anyone to come through their doors and receive medical testing performed by their certified nursing staff and an understanding of their options if they are pregnant.
"Our trained staff and volunteers are available to provide truth, hope and compassion to women and men when they face an unplanned (or planned) pregnancy," Woods said. "We have walked alongside thousands of women and helped them to see clearly when things seem so confusing."
The centers provide confidential services to clients across Central Oregon.
"We would like to thank the Prineville, Madras and Terrebonne communities for embracing us as we serve our communities together," Woods said.
