Cause of the Saturday afternoon blaze is under investigation; no people were injured, no structures damaged

One vehicle was destroyed in a Juniper Canyon brush fire Saturday afternoon.

Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a brush fire at 2:58 p.m. on Southeast Simpson Road on Saturday, July 7.

Crews arrived to find an active brush fire with multiple homes threatened. Three homes were evacuated, and several more were put on alert.

Crook County Fire and Rescue, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service and Oregon Department of Forestry sent a total of eight engines, one water tender, one hand crew and one helicopter and were able to contain the fire at 15 acres.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to structures. One vehicle was destroyed by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
