Prineville resident loses life in rollover crash on Highway 26
A young Prineville man died Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on the Madras Highway.
On July 27 at about 3:45 p.m., Oregon State Troopers responded along with deputies from the Crook County Sheriff's Office to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 26 near milepost 17, west of Prineville.
The investigation revealed a dark colored 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 at this location when it left the roadway for unknown reasons, rolling over into the eastbound ditch.
The driver and sole occupant, identified as 20-year-old Prineville resident David Thompson, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. It was determined that Thompson was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
