Prineville man arrested in Bend area stabbing
A Prineville man was arrested in Bend in connection with a stabbing incident Thursday.
Bend police officers were dispatched to St. Charles Bend emergency department around 8:30 a.m. where 24-year-old Bend man Brandon Cooper was receiving medical care for non-life threatening stab wounds. Responding detectives learned that he had been stabbed a few hours earlier by Prineville man Travis Root.
The stabbing took place at a building that houses Chez Chienne House of Dogs, a Bend business on Northeast Greenwood with an adjoining residence. Detectives determined the incident occurred in the residence portion of the building.
Authorities went to the address where they found Root and another man later identified as a witness. They transported Root to the Bend Police Department.
After officers and detectives processed the crime scene and collected evidence, authorities arrested Root, charging him with second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to police, the case is still under investigation.
