Redmond man dies at Prineville Reservoir
A Redmond man died following an incident at Prineville Reservoir early Thursday afternoon.
According to a Crook County Sheriff's Office report, 65-year-old Thomas Bray and a friend had been fishing. Upon returning to Powder House Cove around 1 p.m., Thomas struck the boat ramp at a slow speed causing the small vessel to tip. Thomas and his friend fell from the boat into the water.
They were both able to swim to safety, but after Thomas then made his way up the boat ramp toward his vehicle and trailer he collapsed and fell in the parking lot.
Multiple citizens rushed to his aid and found that he was unconscious and not breathing. CPR was initiated and calls were made to 911. When Crook County deputies arrived, they began assisting with CPR until Crook County Fire Rescue paramedics arrived on scene and took over lifesaving efforts.
Despite extensive efforts, Thomas could not be revived and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation determined Thomas died of apparent natural causes.
