Prineville man seriously injured in motorcycle crash
A Prineville man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in northwest Prineville Tuesday evening.
According to a Prineville Police Department, 26-year-old Eric Babcock was traveling south on Northwest Gardner Road when he failed to negotiate a corner, left the roadway, and appeared to have struck a gate access pole and fence.
Officers responded to the scene around 6:40 p.m. and found Babcock off the south side of the road with serious injuries. No other vehicles were involved and Babcock was the only rider. During an investigation, authorities found more than 500 feet of skid marks that show speed was a factor. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash as well.
Babcock was treated on scene by Crook County Fire and Rescue and then was airlifted to St. Charles Medical Center, Bend for life-threatening injuries.
Prineville police thanked Crook County Sheriff deputies and Crook County Fire and Rescue for their assistance at the scene.
