Local man killed in motorcycle crash
A Prineville man riding a motorcycle in Redmond died after a collision with another vehicle on Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, Redmond police officers and personnel from Redmond Fire and Rescue responded to the crash at the intersection of Southwest Veterans Way and South First Street shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Chad Welsh, 45, of Prineville, reportedly loss consciousness after the crash but was responsive when medics arrived. He was transported to St Charles Bend for life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
While the accident remains under investigation, authorities said no determination of fault has been reached at this time. Early information indicates the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Veterans Way and collided with a left-turning vehicle emerging from First Street. A third vehicle was indirectly involved in the crash and had been traveling eastbound on Veterans Way directly in front of the motorcycle before turning right onto First Street.
All drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Officers were at the scene for several hours. The investigation is ongoing and may take several weeks to conclude.
Witnesses to the crash who have not spoken to law enforcement are encouraged to contact the Redmond Police Department by calling dispatch at 541-693-6911.
