Local intoxicated driver cited after Saturday crash
The Oregon State Police, Crook County Sheriff's Office, and crews from Crook County Fire and Rescue and Redmond Fire and Rescue responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 370 (O'Neil Highway) near milepost 6 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Saturday.
Responders found a small pickup upon arrival, with severe damage and a leaking fuel tank. Responders stabilized the vehicle, stopped the fuel leak and extricated the driver from the vehicle.
No injuries were reported regarding fire or police personnel.
The driver, Chance Douglas Bergstrom, 23, was airlifted via Life Flight to St. Charles Bend. The driver was reported to be under the influence of intoxicants, and a mandatory report was provided by St. Charles Hospital staff, with the driver's blood alcohol level at .339%. The legal limit in Oregon is 0.08%.
The driver will be cited for no operator's driving license and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
