In these current stressful times when businesses are trying to remain open and solvent, everyday heroes continue to come forward to help their fellow Crook County residents.

That is the case of a recent tradition that was established by Prineville Coffee Company. Shortly after March 18, owner Lisa Parker became aware of essential businesses around town that were struggling and she wanted to do something that would brighten their day.

She came up with the idea of distrubuting "boxes of cheer" to a different businesses every day.

"We saw a lot of businesses struggling, and so we wanted to spread some cheer," she said. "We decided that we were going to do it everyday for a month, and then it just kept building because we had other sponsors who would sponsor boxes for us."

The boxes of cheer included house coffee, flavored mocha or a latté for each recipient at various businesses. Prineville Coffee Company staff deliver the "boxes of cheer" to the place of employment.

She added that they had delivered at least one box—and sometimes two-to-three boxes — every day since March 18.

"Every box we delivered, it was so fun because they were truly thankful and grateful. It brought a smile to their face, which is the whole intent and purpose and point of what we are doing," stated Parker.

She said that sometimes different businesses and community members would also sponsor a box, and request specifically where it went to.

"Other times we would just saw people doing great things, and so we would pick them for that day."

Parker adds each group of recipients for the "boxes of cheer" on her Facebook feed, with a photo.

In addition to this tradition, Parker also came up with the idea to have lawn signs made for each senior of the CCHS graduating class of 2020.

"We have purchased one for each of our seniors to help celebrate YOU," she noted on her Prineville Coffee Company Facebook feed.

The signs were free to the seniors, and the seniors and/or parents just had to come in the Prineville Coffee Company lobby to pick up their sign.

Prineville Coffee Company was founded in 2012, and is a homegrown Prineville Business. The business specializes in making and distributing gourmet beverages.
