Prineville man arrested in connection with stabbing
A Prineville man was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man in the parking lot near a couple of local stores.
According to a Prineville Police Department report, a fight and stabbing in front of Ace Hardware and Rite Aid was reported Monday evening around 6:15 p.m. While police were being dispatched to the location, the suspect, 28-year-old Prineville man Nicholas W. Myers, fled the area on foot.
The 35-year-old male victim was transported in a passenger car by a citizen to St. Charles Prineville for life-threatening injuries. He was later air lifted to St. Charles Bend.
Authorities said Myers was quickly located, walking in a field north of Northeast Laughlin Road and taken into custody without incident.
Police reported that Myers and the victim were past acquaintances. Myers was out in the public because he had posted bail on a previous stabbing that occurred in a different Oregon county.
He was initially charged with first-degree assault and lodged at the Crook County Jail. Future charges will be considered at grand jury hearing.
