The world is continually trying to draw us into battles that aren't ours to fight, but we must cast our cares on Jesus

CENTRAL OREGONIAN - Carl AdkinsLast week, New Life Bible Chapel hosted the 2021 Worldwide Ministries NW Convention. The theme for this year's convention was Romans 8:37, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." (NKJV)

Ministers from Worldwide Ministries came from far and wide to minister to fellow servants of Christ. Those coming from out of town have been battling the same things that we here in Prineville have been battling the last two years. One of the things brought up time and time again was we as Christians are not just conquerors, but we are more than conquerors, through Christ who loves us. There is nothing we cannot overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You know in the last two years we have been come against from many directions. I am reminded of the scripture in Ephesians 6:12, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

It is becoming harder and harder to keep our hearts and eyes on Jesus and not on the attacks of the world and the enemy. The world is continually trying to draw us into battles that aren't ours to fight. Jesus tells us in God's word to cast our cares on him. God's word also tells us to love our enemies, to bless them and not curse them. As the world comes against us, we need to stand firm in Christ and not return evil for evil.

When we look at the things of the world, it can become very confusing. We hear so many opinions, what is right? The word of God is right. In 2 Timothy 2:15, it says, "be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." I do not need to prove myself to the world, but I need to be approved of by God.

When we see our country drifting away from the things of God, we might be tempted to think the world is winning, but we are overcomers and more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.

In Isaiah 55:11, it says, "So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

We as followers of Christ have no reason to fear, or even be concerned by the things of the world. God's word says:

"Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God."

"If we are walking in the spirit, we will overcome the flesh."

"Let us not worry, fear, or surrender to the attacks of the world."

1 Corinthians 15:57 says, "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
