Prineville man Dakota Cumber was arrested for first-degree assault and unlawful use of a firearm

A Prineville man was arrested and charged with multiple crimes associated with a shooting in southeast Prineville Friday evening.

According to a Prineville Police Department report, on Friday at about 11:30 p.m., 24-year-old Prineville man Victor Hernandez-Valle was transported to St. Charles Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

At about 4 a.m., Saturday, 21-year-old Prineville man Dakota Cumber was arrested for first-degree and unlawful use of a firearm. He was booked and lodged in the Crook County Jail.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other and were involved in an altercation resulting in Hernandez-Valle getting shot. The investigation is still ongoing, and police have released no further information.
