Trailer of commercial truck traveling on Millican Road catches fire, likely from a seized brake caliper

CROOK COUNTY FIRE AND RESCUE - Trailer of commercial truck likely caught fire because of heat from seized brake caliper.

Heat from a seized brake caliper is likely to blame for a fire that scorched a 40-foot commercial trailer on George Millican Road early Wednesday morning.

According to a Crook County Fire and Rescue report, the fire was reported just before 6:30 a.m. between milepost 6 and 7. Crews arrived on scene to find about half of the semi-trailer on fire.

The driver of the truck was able to unhook the tractor from the trailer, which belonged to a moving company. Crews discovered the trailer was completely full of a home's contents, including furniture and other personal items. Firefighters were able to keep the fire to the rear of the trailer, saving some of the personal items in the trailer.

Nobody was injured during the fire, which is believed to have started after the truck's driver heard a tire blow, most likely from a seized brake caliper. The heat from the caliper then caused the tires to catch on fire, which then spread to the trailer.
