The pizza chain will open next spring south of Clinic Pharmacy on Combs Flat Road

 - Construction began recently on the building, and plans call for Domino's to be open for business next spring.

Domino's will be delivering pizza to the people of Prineville sometime early next spring, a developer has confirmed.

Construction of a 3,138-square-foot building began recently at the Combs Flat Road site, directly south of the Clinic Pharmacy.

"I'm real excited about Domino's and excited to rent the other half," said Powell Butte resident Mike Mendazona, the director of Prineville Real Estate Holdings, the company that owns and is developing the real estate.

Bryan and Taryn Marx will be franchisees of the Domino's restaurant and will lease 1,500-square-feet of the building from Prineville Real Estate Holdings.

They are moving from the Tri-Cities, Washington, area, to open the Domino's in Prineville.

Domino's, an international fast-food franchise, specializes in pizza deliveries, including specialty and build-your-own pizza topping choices. They also offers wings, sandwiches, pasta, salads, bread sides, desserts and select family-friendly bottled beverages.

The restaurant will feature pick-up service, a drive-thru window for quick carry-out service as well as a single table with four chairs in the small dine-in area.

Bryan has been with Domino's since 2007, and Taryn joined Domino's in 2011.

"I was managing a Domino's in the Tri-Cities, and four years after the promotion to general manager, my wife and I decided we would take on a very arduous hurdle to obtain our own Domino's restaurant," Bryan said. "Along the way, we realized our true goal was to open a brand-new location."

"Oregon has always been a favorite recreational destination for our family. Receiving the chance to reside in Prineville is a dream come true for Taryn and me," Bryan said.

Their neighbor in the new building at this point is unknown. The remaining 1,638 square feet of the building is available to lease.

"It's going to be a real attractive building. It's going to look similar to the one we built there on the corner, which I think is a really nice building, which added to Prineville skyline," Mendazona said. "It's going to be another good-looking building, and I think it's a step forward for us and Prineville."

Mendazona's company developed the neighboring building that his home to the Clinic Pharmacy, Central Oregon Eyecare and Cascade Direct Care.

"It was part of our contract with Ochoco Lumber when we purchased that lot. We had to build two buildings, so this is the second building," Mendazona explained. "We've got half of it rented to Domino's with the other side available."

For decades, that land off of Combs Flat Road was the site of Ochoco Lumber Company.

Mendazona said although he would like to see more development on other parts of the former mill site, Prineville Real Estate Holdings has no additional plans to build there.

Mendazona, who is the on-site construction supervisor, said the construction portion of the building will be completed sometime between March and May and that the restaurant would most likely be open soon thereafter.

Starting within the next three weeks, weather permitting, the walls will start to go up on the new construction.

"The walls will go up pretty fast. A lot will happen quickly once we get that going," Mendazona said.
