Willis Roberts wins $300 as the 2018 Grand Champion winner of football contest

The Central Oregonian will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 so employees can celebrate Christmas with their families. We will also be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, to celebrate New Year's. Subscribers to the Central Oregonian will receive their newspapers on Wednesday for both weeks. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to each of you from the staff at the Central Oregonian.

Spencer Brown, manager of the Prineville Les Schwab Tire Center for the last 22 years, will be retiring at the end of this month. His last day will be Monday, Dec. 31. Spencer has been with the Les Schwab Company for 32 years. There will be an all-day Open House Retirement Reception for Spencer on Friday, Dec. 28 for customers to stop by and bid him a happy retirement, where he will have seven-day weekends.

Nate Laughery has been named as the new manager of the Prineville Les Schwab Tire Center, and his first day will be Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

Special Christmas Eve/Candlelight Services will be held at several local churches on Dec. 24. For a complete list and locations, please see their ads on page A12 of today's Central Oregonian. They will also be in the Friday, Dec. 21 publication of the Central Oregonian. They are: Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Prineville Presbyterian Church, Eastside Church, Powell Butte Christian Church, Shiloh Ranch Church and Prineville Church of the Nazarene.

The Prineville Kiwanis annual See's Candies fundraiser will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through Dec. 24, at the corner of Third and Belknap streets near the Bowman Museum. They offer a variety of chocolates and candies in several sizes. Proceeds will support the Kiwanis club's community service projects, such as the splash park, summer school and C.A.S.T. for Kids.

This week, Prineville Perk will be hosted by Bayberry Lane on Friday, Dec. 21 from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at 341 N. Main St. For more information on Prineville Perk, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 541-447-6304.

The Central Oregonian Football Contest is over for this year, and we would like to thank everyone who participated throughout the 10-week contest. There are some very competitive football fans in Crook County, and several were in the running to be the 2018 Grand Championship Winner for $300 cash, but when the results were tallied, this year's winner was Willis Roberts, correctly picking 136 games out of 200 over the course of the 10-week contest. Runners-up were Jeff Hunter, who correctly picked 135 out of 200, and Derek Puckett, who correctly picked 133 out of 200.

For the final week in the contest, the winner of the $25 gift certificate to Ericksons Thriftway was Richard J. Johnson. The final winner to beat Helmet Head for a gift certificate to Subway was Jim Wilson.

All of the final winners can pick up their prize at the Central Oregonian office.
