Mid Oregon Credit Union offering a workshop on Medicare this Thursday, April 11

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Crook County will reopen a food pantry at a new location on Tuesday, April 16. They are located at 1201 NE Elm St. in Prineville, next to the Lutheran Community Services Northwest Resource Center entrance. Hours are 1 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They also offer social services.

Mid Oregon Credit Union encourages the community to stop by a branch and "Adopt-A-Bear" from April 1 through April 19 in support of Healthy Beginnings, helping ensure that every preschooler in Central Oregon is healthy and prepared to enter kindergarten ready to learn.

The Blue Ribbon Campaign continues and coincides with April's National Child Abuse Prevention Month, with special events during the month.

This week, Pine Theater will hold a free movie event on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m., showing "Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse."

On Friday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crook County Library, there will be a Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children training, where adults will receive tools for recognizing the signs of sexual abuse and responding to suspicions. They also learn simple ways to minimize opportunities for abuse in organizations and in our community. More than 11,500 adults have been trained in Central Oregon over the last 12 years. Sign up at
