Salie Beasworrick makes hand-made bows and bandanas for her furry clientele

RAMONA MCCALLISTER - The waiting area inside the lobby at "Tiny Bubbles."

It's not every day that you find a master groomer in Prineville with more than 50 years of experience.

Salie Beasworrick recently moved to the community and opened Tiny Bubbles in June. She began grooming when she was 13 years old. She also had a grooming shop for 40 years in California.

Beasworrick grooms all breeds of dogs and cats. She uses hypoallergenic and tearless shampoo and rinse, and provides haircuts. She makes hand-made bows and bandanas, and matching polish for the little ones to match the bows.

"I do a lot of hand scissoring, and I do a lot of long haircuts," said Beasworrick. "I believe in making them look as beautiful as they can. It's a day at the spa."

Sometimes owners bring their pet in for just a bath and brush, and everything but the haircut.

"Everything but the haircut goes to every dog," she added.

Beasworrick and her husband moved to Prineville because her husband took a pastorship at Prineville Praise and Worship Center.

"Everybody wanted me to retire," she recalled. "The hole in my heart was so huge, leaving my animals."

For eight months she was miserable.

"Opening the grooming shop was the best day of my life."

In all her years of experience, there are not any breeds Beasworrick hasn't worked with. She has also shown Old English Sheep Dogs.

She said that the animals she serves are like her kids, and they are really special. She had to leave her dogs behind when she moved.

She now has a toy poodle, an Old English Sheepdog, a Chihuahua and a pug. She is partial to poodles as she trained in a poodle grooming shop.

She began sweeping floors at the poodle grooming shop when she was 13. After four months, they saw that she was serious and began training her for the next three years. She knew from the time she began sweeping floors at the shop that she wanted to be a groomer.

"They trained me, and I have been happy ever since. I just really love doing it," said Beasworrick.

She is happy to be in the Prineville community. She likes meeting new people.

"I've met a lot of people and it's not only the grooming, but meeting the people and getting to know the community is just as exciting," Beasworrick concluded.
