Elizabeth Rollock of Prineville will remember 2020 as the year she won the grand prize in the Purina Horse Owner Dream Giveaway Sweepstakes. She entered the sweepstakes in 2019 and was in disbelief when she received the news she had won.

"I received an email from a third party company that handles the sweepstakes for Purina, and I honestly thought it wasn't real," she recalls. "It was like that old saying 'if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.' I looked up the company and called them and they verified it was real and so did Purina."

Rollock won a 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4x4 crew cab pickup truck with the western hauler appearance package, plus a 2020 Sooner 3-Horse Premier LQ Trailer. The approximate retail value of both is $160,000.

"I haven't ever really won anything, let alone something this big!" said Rollock, a pre-nursing student at Central Oregon Community College.

Rollock owns two horses – Colonel, a 26-year-old Paint gelding she has had since he was 5, and Whiskey, a two-year-old Quarter Horse filly. Rollock feeds Purina Strategy Healthy Edge to Colonel and Purina Strategy Professional Formula GX to Whiskey.

"I buy all my Purina grain from Fair Feed (in Prineville), but I signed up through the Purina app for the contest," she clarified.

According to Purina, My Purina Horse Barn app was created for all the busy and hard-working horse owners who need to organize lots of information, but just want more time to focus on what really matters — time with their horses. It allows horse owners to easily track key maintenance and feed schedules.

On Monday, July 13, 2020, local Purina dealer Fair Feed & Supply owner Jeff Evenson celebrated with Rollock. Fair Feed and Supply is locally owned by Evenson and his wife, Lindsey. They have owned the business since 2018. Fair Feed and Supply has been serving the local Prineville community for over two decades.

"It's fantastic to be a part of something like this," said Evenson. "Purina is making Elizabeth's dreams come true and that makes us even prouder to partner with them. This is one of many great ways Purina supports the horse industry."

Rollock flew to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, last week to Russell Feed and Supply to pick up the Ford F-350 diesel Lariat with a western hauler package. She indicated that they met with the owner of the feed store and someone from Purina, as well as someone from the dealership they got the truck from. "We wanted a bigger diesel truck for quite a while," Rollock added. "I am in school, and then I work."

She said that she works part-time for St. Charles Redmond. She is off for the summer from school, where she just finished her prerequisites for nursing. She has applied to get into the nursing program in the fall and is awaiting results.

"We are just trying to make it through school and then our plan was to get a truck after that."

Rollock said that the truck and trailer will allow her to camp with her horses, since the trailer has living quarters. She also enjoys camping with her sister and her horses, and this will make that possible more often.

"I haven't been hauling horses much lately because I always had to borrow trailers," said Rollock. "With this new rig, I hope to get back to hauling during the summer to explore new trails and campgrounds and go to some local and overnight horse shows."

The horse trailer is a three-horse, gooseneck trailer with living quarters in the front.

"We went to the factory where they make them in Oklahoma," added Rollock.

She was able to go to El Reno, Oklahoma, to custom order portions of the trailer, but unable to do a tour because of COVID-19 restraints.

She exclaimed that the entire experience was still surreal until she heard from an employee with Purina, and they did the promotional photo shoot last week.

"Getting this prize has been a crazy whirlwind and honestly one of the best parts has been this road trip with the truck," she said enthusiastically. "I've gotten to see Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico and we're still driving! The trailer is being custom-built, so we won't have it for a few months."
