The Wild Rose Boutique has moved to a new location next to the Posie Shoppe and has gained a vendor for women's lingerie

RAMONA MCCALLISTER - Shari Hite adjusts inventory at her new venue at 127 NW Third St., next to the Posie Shoppe.

For new or old customers of the Wild Rose Boutique, the store has moved to a bigger venue, and owner, Shari Hite, is ready to serve customers.

The Wild Rose offers a wide variety of women's merchandise, both new and used, including curvy women's clothing, accessories, jewelry, shoes and gift items. Included in her inventory are women's active wear, dresses, jeans, hats, makeup, spa items and new summer clothing. Hite also welcomes vendor, Lynette Winters, who offers women's lingerie.

Shari Hite began Wild Rose approximately five years ago, in her prior location of 290 NW Third St., next to O'Reilly Auto Parts, in Prineville. She recently upgraded her store to a new venue further east at 127 NW Third St., next door to the Posie Shoppe.

Prior to opening the Wild Rose Boutique, Hite had an established jewelry business, Shari'n the Jewels, that she successfully operated independently for four years. She saw a need for affordable, used fashion clothing and accessories for women in Prineville. She includes her jewelry in her current store as well.

"That is how I found this love of shopping and reselling, and I opened at the other location. We just outgrew it really fast, and the needs just got more and more."

She added that the small space meant smaller racks, and the venue did not provide enough area for customers to move around and look at merchandise.

"After years and years, it got very tight to move around."

Hite began looking for a larger venue and noticed that the space was available next to the Posie Shoppe. A "for sale" sign was up, then it came down, so she enquired with Michelle Simpson of the space to the west of her shop. Simpson had purchased the building, and shortly thereafter, Hite leased and renovated the space and recently opened her store in the new, spacious locale.

She added that she likes the location, and it is closer to other stores that attract women who like to shop downtown. When there are events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, they are also in a convenient location.

"Main Street has gotten to be a popular attraction for women to go and park their car and walk to everything."

Hite indicated that they are offering more new and affordable merchandise, as well as the ability to offer more gently used merchandise. She is also happy to offer curvy sizes for women — both new and used items.

"That is a really big need in town, so I like to cater to everyone if I can. It is so hard to find flattering, fashionable clothing," commented Hite.

She added, "If I don't want my daughter to wear it, it won't be in the store."

The Wild Rose Boutique is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (summer hours).

Sweet Cheeks, owner, Lynette Winters

Winters opened her new business simultaneous to Hite, moving her boutique to her new venue. The spacious building provided a nice space for Winters to showcase and sell her lingerie, which has been a high demand item in Prineville for a number of years.

"I have had it in my mind for years that I wanted to start a lingerie company where people in Prineville could get cute stuff and not have to drive to Bend," explained Winters of her desire to open her new business.

She added that it is hard to find curvy sizes in Bend, since Lane Bryant closed in Bend.

"I really want to focus on just making women feel beautiful and really be there for our community. It is small now but hopefully, it will grow. We thought this was a good place to start because Shari had the clientele," said Winters.

She helped Hite with her store in previous years and often observed that women would ask about lingerie items and would comment that it was next to impossible to find them in Prineville. Included in her inventory are bras, all styles of panties, bachelorette items, robes and cute pajama sets.

Winters commented that customers can also leave a message at 541-903-5556, which is the number for Wild Rose Boutique. They can purchase items from her inventory, regardless of whether she is present.
