If your taste buds are craving pizza, barbecue or the fanciest grilled cheese sandwich in Prineville, these are your newest selections

RAMONA MCCALLISTER - David and Aspen Brown of Renegades BBQ stand in front of their menu selections at their refurbished food cart. They reopened their eatery on June 11.

The Creekside Food Court has added some food carts to their offerings in the past two months.

If you enjoy brick oven fired pizza, fancy grilled cheese and charcuterie or hearty barbecue, the Creekside Food Court offers these and other great foods, such as Teriyaki bowls, tacos, steak, and burritos. In addition to those offerings, the food court has the Creekside Beer Garden.

Renegades BBQ is back!

After a devastating fire on Feb. 4, owner of Renegades BBQ, David Brown, arrived at his food cart early in the morning to discover that it had sustained significant fire damage during the previous evening.

Brown did not have fire insurance and feared that his food cart was a thing of the past. As community members heard about the fire, Brown began to get offers for labor and funds to help get him back on his feet.

"The next morning, I came in about 8 a.m., and there was already a guy in here working, demo-ing it, and throwing everything out. He talked to somebody else who donated a dumpster," Brown explained.

The help just kept on coming, and on June 11, Brown and his daughter, Aspen, reopened the barbecue. They still offer their delectable barbecue dishes, including pork, tri-tip, turkey roast, brisket (on weekends) and ribs. There are also sandwiches, burgers, tacos and fry bread. Brown now offers a new menu item, the #5 Burned Down Brisket Sandwich. (A spicy brisket sandwich named after the fire.)

David and Aspen want to thank all the generosity of the community, including Dave Brown Sr., Kenneth Clark (electrical work), Matt Martin, Tom Young, Emily Fulton, Ryan Kuhlman, On Point Roll Off and Clean Up, Tony Buckman, (framing) Jim Kinsey, (plumbing) Joel Sordoff, (flooring) Matt Borden, (interior walls) Kyle Staton; donations, Roberto Toledo, Kyle Staton, Endura Products, Juniper Pantry, Crossroads Diner and Pub, Shooters Saloon, Cricket Wireless, Dirty Arrow Street Wear, Toni's Tacos, Bs Teriyaki, George Cantrell and Scott Davis Enterprises.

Renegades BBQ is open Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 12 to 8 p.m.

Nomads Brick Oven Pizza

Local Prineville residents, Molly and Patrick Allen, are the proud owners of Nomads Brick Oven Pizza. Open since May 28, they offer brick-fired pizza with fresh ingredients, such as pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, fresh veggies and the Allen's own sauce recipe. They offer 10-inch brick-fired pizza with a wide variety of combinations for their customers.

Patrick previously worked in construction, in the concrete business. The long hours and hard work were hard on his family life, and the manual work was taking a toll on his body. The couple were friends with other food cart owners, and with their encouragement, they decided to launch their own food cart business. They took a 1978 Nomad camper, and Patrick stripped it down to the frame, and Molly and Patrick spent six months creating their unique pizza brick fire oven food cart.

"It's been really nice," noted Patrick of the benefits of having their own business.

Why pizza? The couple loves pizza and thought Prineville needed some good, homemade pizza. Patrick added that he wanted it to be brick oven-fired pizza. Building the oven by itself took three weeks.

"We decided we were going to be that good pizza," said Molly.

They like to have their customers come back and give suggestions and feedback on their pizza.

"It has been fun, and I like doing it, and I like the atmosphere. This is a completely different world for me," Patrick concluded.

They are open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Happy Ending Food Truck

One of the new additions to Creekside Food Court is Happy Ending Food Truck, owned by Jessica Smith. Smith had her grand opening on May 14. She serves up fancy grilled cheese sandwich options and munch box charcuterie — all topped off with a free cupcake.

With a large number of COVID entrepreneur stories that have come out of the pandemic, Smith shared that she began her business under such circumstances. She had been laid off from her job during the pandemic and decided to follow her lifelong love of baking and cooking. She wanted to offer something unique and chose fancy grilled cheese sandwich options, with unique selections such as pulled pork with mac & cheese sandwich, and jalapeno popper meets grilled cheese jalapenos with cream cheese, bacon and sharp cheddar cheese.

Smith also offers munch boxes (charcuterie in a box) for those who seek a healthier option. In her munch boxes, Smith offers deli meats, a variety of cheeses, veggies and crackers and breads. There are two sizes, depending on your appetite.

To top it off, she is an accomplished baker and offers free cupcakes with each order. Need some fancy cupcakes or delectable pies? She bakes special orders in addition to her food cart items.

Smith also offers Lotus energy drinks (a plant-based energy drink) and Italian sodas. She also prides herself in offering gluten free bread and crackers, gluten-free cupcakes and dairy-free cheese upon request.

She is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
