'Get Outside and Explore Barnes Butte Recreation Area' Summer Promotion offers locals, visitors opportunity to win prizes

The city of Prineville ran its first "Get Outside and Explore Barnes Butte Recreation Area" Summer Promotion, offering locals and visitors the opportunity to win prizes between July 1 and Aug. 31.

All ages were invited to visit the Barnes Butte Recreation Area and participate in scavenger hunts and photo contests.

PHOTO BY KIM DANIELS - Kim Daniels claimed the Adults 18 and Over category."The summer promotion was a fun way for the community and visitors to experience the beauty and recreation available at Barnes Butte while winning prizes," said Casey Kaiser, the city's public works director.

Scavenger hunt forms were available at the Barnes Butte Recreation Area trailhead and Prineville City Hall. Participants submitted their entries at Prineville City Hall for a plantable wildflower seed embedded bookmark or a Seed Sensations miniature Terracotta pot planter.

 - Nathan Moore won the People's Choice award.Photo submissions were received in the "Inspired by Nature" and "Top 'O the Butte" categories, and all entries were considered for the "People's Choice" award.

Participants submitted photos through Aug. 31, 2022, through the Barnes Butte Recreation Area Facebook page for a chance to win a Barnes Butte Recreation Area Elemental 20-ounce insulated water bottle with sport lid and have their photo featured.
