"These girls have incredible work ethic and the drive to succeed," said head coach Jeremy Puckett following the tournament. "It's truly an honor to coach each and every one of them."

Playing games on Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9, the YellowJackets stormed through the tournament undefeated, taking a tight 11-10 win over the Oregon City Nightmare in the title game.

The team is made up of players from throughout Central Oregon, including three from Crook County High School.

Those three — Kalyn Martinez, Ashley Owens, and Caitlyn Elliott — have all been instrumental in the team's success.

It is the first state championship for the team which Puckett coaches, along with assistant coaches Tim Berg, Hayes McCoy, and Frank Martinez, who is also the Crook County High School head baseball coach.
