Crook County Cowgirls fall 6-2 to The Dalles Riverhawks
The Crook County Cowgirls held their own in singles play, but struggled in doubles as they fell 6-2 to the The Dalles Riverhawks Thursday afternoon in Prineville.
In the longest match of the day, Crook County's Olivia Cooper suffered a heartbreaking loss to Charel Gizen at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Cooper rebounded to take the second set 7-5, setting up a final pro set, which Gizen won 10-7.
Playing No. 2 singles, Crook County's Kaylee Carr easily defeated Dalia Meridragon, 6-2, 6-2.
The Dalles then took the No. 3 singles match as Michdo Haight edged Ashley Reynolds 7-5, 7-5.
Crook County's Hannah Love closed out singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 whipping of Delainny Lobato.
However, doubles play was all The Dalles.
First, Lupita Contreras and Natalie Narland rolled past Tansy Clark and Marlen Ceja 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Yahaira Alvarez and Pearl Guzman kept things rolling with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Katelynn Gibson and Alena McCabe.
The Cowgirls dropped another close match at No. 3 doubles, where Riley Brewer and Hannah Biehn came from behind to take a 5-7, 6-3, 9-5 win over Crook County's Maria Knight and Kirstie Chu.
Ari Andrade and Kristy Warren then closed things out for The Dalles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jillian Gish and Gracie Slawter at No. 4 singles.
The Cowgirls were at home again on Saturday when they hosted the Pendleton Buckaroos.
