Knudtson leads Crook County all-league selections
Four Crook County Cowboys have been selected to the Intermountain Conference all-league team.
Leading the charge for Crook County is Kyle Knudtson, who was named first team all-league as an infielder and was also selected to the second team as a pitcher.
Also earning first team all-league recognition was third baseman Carson Smith, who was named the league's top designated hitter.
Earning a berth on the conference second team was utility player Louis Duran, while catcher Brody Connell received honorable mention recognition.
Knudtson, a junior, was second on the team in batting, .380, and slugging percentage, .520 during the league season. Knudtson finished the league season with three triples, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored. As a pitcher, he pitched 35 innings of ball in Intermountain Conference play with a 2.800 earned run average and a team-high 37 strikeouts.
Smith, a senior, led the Cowboys in batting with a .400 average during Intermountain Conference play as well as a .580 slugging percentage. Smith finished with seven doubles and a team-high 14 RBIs.
Duran, who is just a sophomore, pitched, played third base and shortstop during the season. He finished league play with a .324 batting average and a .412 slugging percentage. Perhaps more impressive, he led the Cowboys in on-base percentage (.490).
The final Cowboy selected to the team was junior catcher Brody Connell.
Connell finished league play with a .319 batting average and a .450 on-base percentage.
Pendleton's T.J. Haguewood was named the league coach of the year, while Caden Leiblein of Hood River Valley was named the player of the year.
After the first round of action, the league champion Pendleton Buckaroos are the only IMC team still remaining. They play Crescent Valley, which defeated Crook County, in the opening round today in Corvallis.
