Crook County Cowgirls place seven players on IMC all-league team
After finishing the Intermountain Conference softball season in sixth place, the Crook County Cowgirls were still well represented on the all-league team.
The Cowgirls placed seven players on the IMC squad. However, junior outfielder Ashley Owens was the lone Cowgirl to make the first team.
Owens finished the Intermountain Conference season with a .452 batting average and a .524 slugging percentage. Owens scored 11 runs during the league season and finished with nine RBIs. In addition, she was solid in the outfield with 22 put outs and a .889 fielding percentage, the highest on the team.
Earning second team honors for the Cowgirls were senior Berkley Puckett and sophomore Emma Lees.
Puckett, a shortstop, finished the league season with a .353 batting average and a .500 slugging percentage. She earned a team-high 10 base on balls and drove in seven runs. Puckett also led the team in put outs (24) and assists (34) and finished with a .841 fielding percentage.
Lees, who played multiple positions during the season, including pitcher, outfielder and shortstop, was named to the second team as a utility player.
She finished the league season with a .409 batting average, a team-high .773 slugging percentage as well as team highs in runs (14) RBIs (13) and home runs (4). Defensively, Lees finished with 20 put outs and a .871 fielding percentage.
Four Cowgirls were also named honorable mention all-league.
Third baseman Liz Barker, a sophomore, finished the league season with a .275 batting average, a .425 slugging percentage and a .750 fielding percentage.
Autumn Coffelt, a sophomore who spent most of her time at first base, finished the year with a .273 batting average. The final two Cowgirls selected to the squad were seniors Kalyn Martinez and Caitlyn Elliott.
Elliott, a catcher, finished the league season with a .156 batting average as well as doing a solid job of directing the Cowgirl defense.
Martinez, who pitched and played second base, was selected to the team as an infielder. She also finished the year with a .156 batting average.
Hood River Valley's Mackenzie Chambers was named the league player of the year, while Allicitie Frost of Ridgeview was named the pitcher of the year. Sandy Fischer and her assistants at Ridgeview were named the coaching staff of the year after winning the league championship.
All three Intermountain Conference playoff representatives won their first-round games and have advanced to the playoffs. Those teams are No. 1-ranked Ridgeview, No. 2-ranked Hood River Valley, and No. 5-ranked Pendleton.
