Ashley Owens named second team all-state
Crook County High School softball player Ashley Owens has received post-season accolades for the third consecutive year.
The junior was recently named to the Class 5A all-state squad as an outfielder.
Owens is the lone Crook County player selected.
The junior slugger batted .452 during the Intermountain Conference season with a .524 slugging percentage. She finished the league season with 19 hits, including 16 singles and three doubles. Owens also had nine RBIs, 11 runs scored and four stolen bases during the league season. Owens was also a defensive standout, with 22 put outs, two assists and just three errors during the league season.
Although Owens was the lone Crook County representative to the team, she was far from the only Intermountain Conference player selected to the squad, as 11 other IMC players were also recognized for their superlative play.
Junior pitcher Allicitie Frost of the state champion Ridgeview Ravens was named Class 5A pitcher of the year, while the Raven coaching staff was named coaches of the year.
Ridgeview's Natalie Hill, a senior infielder, and Sage McVay, a sophomore outfielder, were also selected to the all-state first team.
Joining the trio of Ridgeview players on the first team were Hood River Valley's Makenzie Chambers, a junior catcher, Haylee Baker, a senior outfielder, and Aunika Yasul, a junior designated player.
Pendleton was also well represented on the first team with seniors Aspen Garton, an infielder and Kila Solomon, a catcher, both recognized.
Earning second team honors along with Owens were Hood River Valley's Lauren Decker, a senior pitcher, and Redmond's Scout DeMain, a senior infielder.
Kilee Hoylman, a junior infielder from The Dalles, was named third team all-state.
Chambers and Kiara McCrea of Hillsboro were named co-players of the year.
