Cowgirls blanked by Bucks
The Crook County Cowgirls fell to 0-8 in conference play and 0-12 overall as they were blanked 8-0 by the Pendleton Buckaroos Thursday afternoon in Prineville.
"We have got to work on our execution," said Crook County head coach Destanie Johnson. "That is one thing we have to work on is execution. We have the right idea now."
After 15 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Pendleton Buckaroos broke through for their first goal midway through the first half.
Once they got things rolling, the Buckaroos continued to score, taking a 4-0 lead into the half.
Pendleton continued to roll in the second half, as they padded their lead with four more goals.
Although they failed to score, the Cowgirls did have plenty of opportunity.
Crook County pushed the ball into the Pendleton half of the field on numerous occasions and had several shots at the goal.
However, each time, the shot was either off line, or Pendleton's goalkeeper was up to the challenge.
"We were able to push the ball up the field," Johnson said. "It was a different game. Things happen, but we'll bounce back."
The Cowgirls have their final home match today when they take on the league leading Ridgeview Ravens, 7-1, 8-4, in a 4:30 p.m. match.
The Cowgirls then close out the year on Thursday when they travel to Redmond to take on the Panthers, 3-5, 5-7, also at 4:30 p.m.
