Spikers split matches, Sweet Home up next
The Rimrock volleyball team split a pair of matches this past Thursday, falling to Oregon Volleyball Club, then rebounding to defeat the Juniper Ravens Volleyball Club in matches played at Crook County High School.
Oregon Volleyball Club rolled to victory in straight stets, taking a 25-20, 25-12 win. Rimrock came back to edge Juniper Volleyball Club 25-21, 26-24.
"We did OK," Rimrock head coach Kristy Struck said. "We had moments of great things and then just error after error, but overall, we were better."
Against Oregon Volleyball Club, Rimrock had just 13 kills as a team, with Liz Barker leading the way with four, while Kendall Maycutt added three. Maycutt led Rimrock in serving going 12 for 12 with five aces, while Kacie Stafford led the team defensively with 11 digs.
Rimrock did a better job hitting the ball against Juniper with 27 kills as a team. Maycutt finished with a team-high eight kills, while Josie Kasberger and Syrie Ossenkop each added seven kills. Jenny McKinnon led the team from the service line, going 16 for 17 with seven aces. Maycutt was a perfect 10 for 10 from the line while JoAnn McKinnon went 7 for 7 with an ace.
Rimrock finished with 40 digs in the match with Stafford accounting for 18. Jenny McKinnon also led the team in assists with 25.
Rimrock is back in action Thursday when they host the Juniper Ravens again in a 5:30 p.m. match. Rimrock is then scheduled to end OSAA season 1 with a match against Sweet Home on Saturday.
