Puckett co-coach of the year; Crook County High School freshman Hemphill honored

CENTRAL OREGONIAN - Emma Lees, shown her ripping a double early in the Cowgirls' season, was named to the Intermountain Conference first team as a utility player. Lees hit .533 during the IMC season. The senor was also honorable mention all- state. Cowgirl head coach Jeremy Puckett was also named IMC co-coach of the year.

After finishing in fourth place in the Intermountain Conference final standings, the Crook County High School softball team placed three players on the all-league squad.

Emma Lees, who played multiple positions for the Cowgirls including catcher and shortstop, was named to the all-league first team as a utility player. Lees, a senior, was also selected honorable mention all-state. Lees had a .533 batting average during the league season, with 24 hits, 13 runs and 22 RBIs. During league, Lees hit four doubles, three home runs and stole nine bases.

Making the all-league second team was infielder Danner Hemphill, a freshman, while senior third baseman Liz Barker received honorable mention recognition as a third baseman.

Hemphill hit .347 with 16 runs, four RBI's six doubles, one home run and had six stolen bases during the league season, while Barker hit .348 with 10 runs, 10 RBIs, three doubles, two triples a home run and nine stolen bases.

Crook County High School head coach Jeremy Puckett and Pendleton head coach Tim Cary were named co-coaches of the year.

Kiana Nakamura of Ridgeview was named the league player of the year, while Kylie Parson and Sauren Garton, both of Pendleton, were named co-pitchers of the year.

Nakamura hit .519 for the league season with 24 runs, 34 RBIs, three doubles, five triples, five home runs and six stolen bases during the league season.

Catcher – First team: Maddie Trout, senior, The Dalles. Second team: Shelbie Stanley, junior, Redmond. Abby Kahler, sophomore, Hood River Valley. Honorable mention: Brie Younce, Pendleton.

First base – First team: Ella Chrisman, junior, Pendleton. Second team: Kennedy Abbas, sophomore, The Dalles. Honorable mention: Aspen Bradley, junior, Redmond.

Infield – First team: Kiana Nakamura, senior, Ridgeview. Maria Lilienthal, senior, Pendleton. Teegan Reams, junior, Ridgeview. Sienna Davis, freshman, Hood River Valley. Second team: Danner Hemphill, freshman, Crook County. Suaren Garton, junior, Pendleton. Tayha DeGrande, sophomore, Ridgeview. Zoe LeBreton, freshman, The Dalles. Honorable mention: Jordyn Looney, junior, Ridgeview. Liz Barker, senior, Crook County. Marina Castaneda, freshman, Hood River Valley.
