Here are all the upcoming prep sports events for your hometown Cowboys and Cowgirls!

FOOTBALL

Friday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m.

Crook County (2-4) vs. Gladstone (2-4)

The Cowboys look to start a new winning streak as they return to Ward Rhoden Stadium to host Gladstone on Friday. The Gladiators just picked up their second win of the season due to a forfeit in the North Marion program. Perhaps notably, Gladstone is the only team to score more than 14 points against No. 2 Estacada, albeit in a 43-18 loss in the Gladiators' only real game so far in league play. Gladstone's only win on the field came in a 21-20 nailbiter at home against Astoria on Sept. 10.

VOLLEYBALL

Tuesday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m.

No. 9 Crook County (9-5) @ Hood River Valley (5-9)

Thursday, Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m.

No. 9 Crook County (9-5) vs. Pendleton (5-8)

Saturday, Oct. 16, 8 a.m.

No. 9 Crook County (9-5) vs. TBD

After a mixed bag of results last week, the Cowgirls look to keep up their stellar play in the Intermountain Conference. First, they travel north to take on a struggling Hood River Valley team that is 0-5 in IMC play. The Eagles were able to beat 6A Benson (2-0) and 4A Madras (2-1) in pool play during their most recent contests, but the Cowgirls swept them handily (25-15, 25-6, 25-21) at home back on Sept. 21. On Thursday, the team duels with Pendleton, another team that has struggled in league play, going just 2-4 so far. The Cowgirls wrap up the week with a weekend tournament featuring mostly 6A programs, including hosts West Linn, who are the top-ranked team in the classification. Four other teams from the 6A Top 10 will also be in attendance, including No. 4 Jesuit, No. 5 South Salem, No. 8 Sheldon and No. 9 Westview.

BOYS SOCCER

Thursday, Oct. 14, 4:30 p.m.

Crook County (0-9) vs. The Dalles/Dufur (3-4-2)

It's a light week for the Cowboys on the soccer pitch, as they only have one match. The joint program between The Dalles and Dufur has had an up-and-down season to this point. In the past five games, the Riverhawks have two wins, two losses and a draw. When the teams played earlier this season, the Cowboys fell 3-1 on the road. Now that they are back on their home turf, Crook County will look to turn that close result the other way.

GIRLS SOCCER

Thursday, Oct. 14, 4:30 p.m.

Crook County (0-9) @ The Dalles/Dufur (3-4-2)

The Cowgirls have just one match this week, too, but they will be making the drive up to The Dalles. The Riverhawks are coming off a tight 2-1 win over Hood River Valley that moved them to 2-2-1 in IMC play. Unfortunately, The Dalles' only other win in league play came against the Cowgirls, a 6-0 victory in Prineville back on Sept. 23. That said, the Riverhawks' offense has not been on fire recently, so Crook County could catch them off-guard.

CROSS COUNTRY

Thursday, Oct. 14, 3 p.m.

Crook County @ Clash in the Cascades

The cross country teams from Crook County High School will bus out to Black Butte Ranch on Thursday afternoon for their seventh race of the season. The event, which is being held at the Big Meadow Golf Course, begins with JV races at 3 p.m. (girls) and 3:30 (boys) and concludes with varsity heats at 4 p.m. (girls) and 4:30 p.m. (boys). So far, Gavin Humphreys is pacing the Cowboys' team with a time of 18:07.6, while the Cowgirls' leaderboard is topped by a virtual dead heat between Patagonia Carne (22:36.8) and McCall Woodward (22:36.9).
