The tournament in Prineville, starting Friday, July 22, will be played at Davidson Field with further details pending

The Crook County junior softball team is not the only bit of local Little League flavor this month.

Crook County Little League will be hosting the juniors baseball state tournament in Prineville starting Friday, July 22. Games will be played at Davidson Field, 251 SE Court Street. Further details on the tournament were not available at press time.

Though the Cowboys did not get their own team into the field, folks in Prineville still may want to mark their calendars for this three-day event.

Our neighbors in Jefferson County will be representing District 5 in the Junior League Baseball state tournament. Many of the players on that team will be playing for Madras High School next season, where they will be in the same league as Crook County High School. As such, next weekend's tournament will provide an early look at some of the Cowboys' future competition from just down the road — or, simply, a chance to cheer on a team from Central Oregon against the rest of the state.

Crook County Little League is also looking for anyone wanting to fundraise for their program or sport to do concessions at the tournament.
