A team of baseball all-stars from around Central Oregon recently went to Newport and came away with a tournament win.

Central Oregon Baseball, a team of all-stars from throughout Central Oregon, recently won a baseball tournament in Newport.

The team, which was coached by Frank Martinez of Prineville, included six players from Prineville and went 4-0 in the tournament to take the championship.

The team dominated the proceedings, outscoring the opposition 49-9 over the course of the weekend. Although the team's pitching was solid, Central Oregon Baseball did most of their damage at the plate. The team hit at a .438 average for the tournament, adding 12 doubles, 10 triples and two home runs. All 11 players on the team had at least one extra-base hit.

The six players from Prineville were Tyis Yustat, Austin Vaughan, Tyson Martinez, Clayton Dill, Trenton Tucker and Gage Martinez.

Other players on the roster included Noah Vibbert of Madras and Jace Silbernagel of Culver, as well as Austin Dean, Mason Scott and Aaron Tekansik.
