After tying The Dalles earlier, the Crook County boys soccer team loses rematch 8-1

PMG PHOTO BY LON AUSTIN - Gabe Love, shown here earlier in the season in a game against Gladstone, scored Crook County's lone goal in their 8-1 loss the Dalles Riverhawks on Oct. 17.It was a tough week for the Crook County High School boys soccer team.

The Cowboys struggled defensively Monday in an 8-1 road loss to The Dalles, then fell 5-0 to Molalla at home on Thursday.

Monday's loss was especially disappointing as Crook County had tied the Riverhawks 2-2 in the two teams previous meeting in Prineville.

"It's the same old story of kids just not being able to compete for a full game," said Crook County head coach Bryan Housley.

Crook County's lone goal against The Dalles was scored by Gabe Love with an assist by Jaycob Miller.

Thursday the results were just as disappointing as the Molalla Indians were in control from early in the match as they blanked the Cowboys.

With the losses, Crook County fell to 0-10-1 overall and 0-6-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, The Dalles improved to 6-4-2 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play, while Molalla is now tied for second place in the Tri-Valley Conference with a 4-2-1 league record and a 6-4-1 overall mark.

The Cowboys are on the road today at Gladstone, 3-7-1, 2-4-1, with game time scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The team returns home on Thursday when they will host the Estacada Rangers, 7-3-1, 4-2-1. It is senior night for the Cowboys, with play scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The Cowboys then close out their season next Tuesday on the road against the league-leading Madras White Buffalos, who are currently 8-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
