The city of Milwaukie recently hired of Denny Egner as the planning director, and John Stelzenmueller as its building official.

by: GRADY WHEELER - Gary EgnerEgner comes to the city by way of Lake Oswego, where he was assistant planning director, and more recently, the state of Oregon’s Department of Land Conservation and Development. Egner’s first day with Milwaukie was Dec. 9.

“We were really impressed with the breadth of Denny’s knowledge and professional achievements,” said Community Development Director Steve Butler. “His experience with neighborhood planning and community engagement will be of particular value to the city.”

Butler has been filling the duties of planning director for the past year and will now be able to apply more focus on cultivating community development opportunities.

Stelzenmueller was previously with the city of Tualatin’s Building Department and was an inspector for the city of Milwaukie years ago. Stelzenmueller will begin on Dec. 23.

Milwaukie’s current Building Official, Tom Larsen, will retire Dec. 31. “Tom will be a hard act to follow,” Butler said, “but Milwaukie will be well-served by John’s technical skills and strong focus on customer service.”
