Grand jury says officer justified in May 10 shooting near transit center
A Multnomah County grand jury has decided that the May 10 police shooting of 24-year-old Terrell Kyreem Johnson was justified.
The jury's decision, announced Friday, June 23, said a Portland police officer assigned to the Transit Division who shot Johnson during a confrontation on a TriMet transit platform was "a lawful exercise of self-defense under the criminal law."
The Multnomah County district attorney's office has asked a judge to release the grand jury transcripts in the case.
