Ryan Douglas Vanhorn, 35, was arrested on Labor Day after police pursued him in a stolen vehicle until he crashed into a median.

PHOTO COURTESY: CCSO - Ryan Douglas Vanhorn surrenders to police upon stepping out of the stolen vehicle on Labor Day. At about 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies located the stolen vehicle on Southeast Sunnyside Road near the Clackamas Town Center.

When the deputies attempted to stop Vanhorn and recover the stolen vehicle, he allegedly sped away. The pursuit ended on Highway 212 near Southeast McKinley Avenue when Vanhorn failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a low, concrete median. He was arrested on Roots Road, across from the Comfort Suites, and on the entrance to the I-205 walking/biking path that heads south to Gladstone.

Clackamas Fire District #1 responded and rendered precautionary medical aid to Vanhorn because of the nature of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and then transported to the Clackamas County Jail, where he was booked on $35,000 bail.

Vanhorn was charged with unlawful use of a vehicle, attempt to elude, reckless driving, reckless endangering and possession of methamphetamine.
