Fort Kennedy bringing free dental to Pioneer Square
Aspen Dental is teaming up with the Fort Kennedy Veteran Outreach Center in Clackamas County to coordinate a event for people to receive free dental care at Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland.
Retired U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Tina Kennedy, an Iraq veteran and 1992 Milwaukie High School graduate, started Fort Kennedy to provide outreach to veterans who, for various reasons, might not want to go through official U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs channels.
The mobile dental facility will be set up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at 701 S.W. Sixth St., Portland. Fort Kennedy plans to run a 8:30 a.m. bus from its Outreach Center, 7300 S.E. Johnson Creek Blvd., unincorporated Milwaukie, to Pioneer Courthouse Square.
"There are just a lot of veterans who just can't afford any dentistry and they truly need this opportunity, and that is who we really want to get this information out to," said Paul Edgar, an Oregon City resident who is on the Fort Kennedy board of directors.
