Manager Jackie Hammond-Williams looks forward to providing customers with a free tool to strengthen local food system

The Oregon City Farmers Market is creating new access to local food by bringing its vendors online with a virtual farmers market.

Starting May 12, on the day that the market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Red Soils, the Oregon City Farmers Market plans to launch its app to allow shoppers to pre-order their desired seasonal items for pickup at the market. The market has partnered with Rhode Island-based food technology company Crave Food Systems to create its custom eCommerce marketplace.

The market also offers hot food and drinks, live music and kids activities every market day throughout the year. During the summer, local chefs demonstrate recipes using seasonal produce, meats and seafood, and monthly events entertain the whole family.

OC Farmers Market Manager Jackie Hammond-Williams looks forward to the app providing customers with a free tool to strengthen Oregon City's local food system by making it more convenient for the community to buy local.

"With time being a big constraint for families on the weekend, the market thought this would be a great way to help shoppers and market vendors alike," Hammond-Williams said. "Now our customers can shop with ease from their armchair and pick up quickly from the vendors on market day."
