The Milwaukie Garden Club earned the award for its picturesque work on the grounds of the Milwaukie Museum, where it is a corporate sponsor.

Milwaukie Garden Club member Paul Klein and other volunteers have kept the planter boxes and grounds immaculate for years, said Milwaukie Museum spokesman Greg Hemer.

"Every spring it is a joy to see the flowers bloom and watch the rotation of color throughout the seasons," Hemer said.

Garden Club President Linda Carr also is proud of the group's work at Gardens of Enchantment, a garden for the blind, and the annual scholarship offered to a Milwaukie High School student with an interest in horticulture.
