Oregon City participates in national literacy effort
Oct. 25 was Read for the Record Day, an annual event to celebrate literacy by encouraging students and teachers across the globe to read the same book on the same day.
National early-childhood educational advocacy organization Jumpstart's annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child.
This year's book, "Maybe Something Beautiful" by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell (and illustrated by Rafael López) celebrates the magic that can happen when a community comes together to create something beautiful.
Oregon Connections Academy's reading specialist read the book out loud to 30 students in a live online session for this special day.
