Man arrested thanks to Happy Valley victim's timely call
A suspected thief was caught in the act thanks to a victim's timely 911 call early in the morning Nov. 13.
Happy Valley police said a deputy stopped a tan truck driven by Patrick David Kennedy, 26, after he rolled through a stop sign in Happy Valley. Kennedy said he had defective breaks and possibly a flat tie.
During the stop, the deputy heard a call about a suspicious man being on someone's property and leaving in a tan truck.
Kennedy had several power tools and a small motorcycle in his truck, which he told the deputy he bought on "Offer Up."
It turns out the 911 caller's neighbor had a small motorcycle stolen and was able to confirm it was the one in the suspect's truck. Kennedy was arrested on charges of theft and trespassing.
"Happy Valley PD appreciates the alert resident who made a timely call to 911 with a good description of a suspicious person and then contacted his neighbor," officials said in a press release. "His willingness to get involved led to an arrest and a neighbor being reunited with his motorcycle."
Police are trying to reunited the stolen tools with their rightful owners as well. If you or someone you know had tools stolen, contact police at 503-760-0123 with case number 18-030675.
