Promising future for Milwaukie High School football
Seventh- and eighth-graders at Rowe Middle School, the feeder for Milwaukie High School, won the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League championship Nov. 10.
The final game featured intense activity from both sides, although Mustangs dominated most of the time to bring down the Grant High School-bound Generals 41-20.
Rowe players beat out players from Hillsboro 30-6 on Nov. 3 to qualify for the final; both games were played in Hillsboro.
Mustangs Youth Cheer members have accompanied the team every game, and the group that was founded this year had great cause to celebrate during the final game.
One player from the Portland Public Schools team was transported by ambulance after he suffered a back injury three minutes from the ending of the final game.
