Oregon City police reported the counterfeit money purchases on Dec. 7 at a local Home Depot.

OCPD PHOTO - Oregon City police say this man used fake money to buy items at Home Depot. Oregon City police are asking the public to help identify an alleged fraudster who used fake money to make purchases from Home Depot.

Police say the suspect used the counterfeit money to purchase "a large amount" of tools from the store at 2002 Washington St., around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7.

Police say the man then exited the store and entered the passenger seat of a "getaway vehicle."

The car was seen stopping briefly at Washington Street at the intersection with 15th Street. Police later located the vehicle but have not found the suspected counterfeiter or his accused accomplice.

The driver is described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, about 5-foot-8, weighing 170 pounds and wearing an orange vest over a dark shirt and dark jeans.
